Most of the geese have moved through Holt County. There are still a few around but numbers decrease daily. This will be the last update for 2015.

Fountain Grove CA

Area Light Goose Population Numbers are reduced and more variable now. Changes daily but a few still resting/roosting on the area. Use caution - Still have a few swans and dark geese and ducks.
Off-Area Light Goose Population Still some activity (field feeding) in our general area (between Chillicothe and Brookfield).
Hunting Pressure Very light.

Pools/Units Open for Hunting The East Side Refuge, West Side Refuge and the two fields on either side of the entrance road (north of the abandoned railroad bed) are closed to light goose hunting. The remainder of the area is open to light goose hunting.
Area Hunt Procedures All hunters must check in prior to hunting, and check out at the conclusion of their hunt, through the Hunter Check-In Room located on the west end of the shop building.

Area Hunt Procedures Pools 1,2,6,7,8 and 9 are refuge. Hunters are required to obtain a Daily Waterfowl Hunting Tag prior to hunting and return harvest cards at the completion of their hunt. Daily tags are located in the hunter check-in room on the north side of the headquarters building.

Hunting allowed 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset. All hunters must check out at the end of each day's hunt by filling out the green card and depositing in the slot.

Snow goose numbers on and around Duck Creek have been highly variable for the past few weeks. Populations range from 0 to 5,000 and change daily.

No geese have been seen on the area the last few days. Based on other reports, it is likely that nearly all snow geese have moved through. This will be the last report for the 2015 Conservation Order unless geese unexpectedly show up over the next week.

Area Hunt Procedures Hunters must self-register at the area headquarters by filling out the green Daily Waterfowl Tag found in the self-registration booth just north of the lobby entrance. Once registered, hunters must check out by returning the bottom portion of the tag to report their harvest, even if they chose not to hunt or nothing was harvested.
