Area Light Goose Population Some snow geese roosting on pool 3 and feeding in surrounding crop fields. Dont expect this to last long if/when colder weather returns

Pools/Units Open for Hunting The East Side Refuge, West Side Refuge and the two fields on either side of the entrance road (north of the abandoned railroad bed) are closed to light goose hunting. The remainder of the area is open to light goose hunting.
Area Hunt Procedures All hunters must check in prior to hunting, and check out at the conclusion of their hunt, through the Hunter Check-In Room located on the west end of the shop building.

A Conservation Order Permit is the only permit required, unless exempt. All pools currently are at normal levels.

Area Hunt Procedures Pools 1,2,6,7,8 and 9 are refuge. Hunters are required to obtain a Daily Waterfowl Hunting Tag prior to hunting and return harvest cards at the completion of their hunt. Daily tags are located in the hunter check-in room on the north side of the headquarters building.

Very little snow goose activity on area and surrounding private land. Pools are 100% ice covered with ice ranging from 2 to 4 inches in thickness.

Hunting allowed 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset. All hunters must check out at the end of each day's hunt by filling out the green card and depositing in the slot.

Snow goose numbers on and around Duck Creek have been highly variable for the past few weeks. Populations range from 0 to 5,000 and change daily.

The number of snows on the area is highly variable from day to day. A few thousand snows were observed working in to the area on Tuesday, only 50 were seen Wednesday AM and 600 were seen Wednesday PM. Updates will occur as hunting pressure and success, or bird numbers change significantly.

Area Hunt Procedures Hunters must self-register at the area headquarters by filling out the green Daily Waterfowl Tag found in the self-registration booth just north of the lobby entrance. Once registered, hunters must check out by returning the bottom portion of the tag to report their harvest, even if they chose not to hunt or nothing was harvested.
